Enterprise Carleton Region - Who We Are...!

     Enterprise Carleton Region is a Community Economic Development Agency designed to help create prosperity in our region. The territory we serve includes the towns and villages of Bath, Florenceville-Bristol, Centreville, Hartland, Woodstock, Meductic, and Canterbury. The Carleton Region has a total population of approximately 26,632 people, one-third of whom live in incorporated communities.

     The people of our region enjoy a rural setting highlighted by the Saint John River. We border the Southern Aroostook county of the State of Maine and many of our residents have friends and family directly across the U.S. border. This close relationship with the United States positions our region very well for exporting and international business relationships.

     The key economic activities in this region include: Agriculture and Food Processing, Forestry and Value-Added wood products, Metal Fabrication and Transportation. Some of the key companies in these sectors include: McCain Foods Limited, Craig Manufacturing Ltd., Humpty Dumpty Snack Foods Ltd., Day & Ross Transportation Group, Jolly Farmer Products Inc., and Hospitality Homes Ltd.

     We are also home to several specialty companies including: Sabian Ltd. (cymbals manufacturer), Tann Paper Ltd., VNCL (Van Nelle Canada Ltd.), Barrett Corporation and Gray’s Aqua Farms. Over the past few years there has been a strong growth in the retail and service sector in Woodstock, Hartland and Florenceville-Bristol.

     Enterprise Carleton Region’s role is to assist in community development from a ground up approach. We are partners with business leaders, municipal leaders, and various levels of government. Providing strategic leadership and coordination for all aspects of community economic development, we work with our partners to strengthen and diversify existing businesses, attract new business and investment from outside the region, coordinate strategic economic development initiatives in the region and implement human resource development strategies to meet business needs.
